Hey everyone! I hope y’all are happy and healthy and have the most luscious of hair.
Oh, wait, what? You don’t have luscious hair? Well, keep reading.
Klorane read my post about their rockin’ gel eye patches and sent me an email saying that they would love for me to try out some other hair products to review! Soon enough, a massive box of Klorane goodies arrived at my door.
I will be honest with you; this was literally seven months ago.
I wanted to try out the products until they were gone, which was around a month for the mask and two for the shampoo. And, when I went to write the review, the product photos disappeared! Then it was September and I was beginning a new semester of classes, so the post got pushed to the back burner. And, let me tell you, it is LONG overdue! (P.S. I did find the photos. They were on my camera’s internal memory, not a memory card! #Technology…)
This is the lovely desert date set! The Klorane rep asked what my biggest hair problems were, so I told her dry hair and split ends and she recommended the ultra-moisturizing desert date products. These products are paraben-free, and the desert dates in them are hand-picked from Sahel. They’re then de-pulped and hand ground locally, then sent to Pierre Fabre Laboratories which makes them into an extract. That’s what I call a quality product!
This shampoo smelled AMAZING. It gives you that feeling of comfort that can only come from the smell of Grandma’s baking or a roasting fire. Amazing. Also, my hair felt very moisturized after using this shampoo; it has a really creamy texture and it’s luxurious.
However, the bottle is significantly smaller (200mL) than your average shampoo bottle, which could be a deal-breaker.
If you’re on a budget (like yours truly) and you can’t buy the entire collection, GET THE MASK. This mask will instantly put you in a state of zen with the sweet desert date aroma wafting around the steamy shower and you just slip into tranquility and you’ll never want to leave. It’s a decent size, too, (150mL) and it lasted me a good month when I had super long hair. You can leave this mask on for five minutes, or 20 minutes if you want a really deep condition (which was me, every time!).
THE LEAVE-IN CONDITIONER
I found it a little odd that the set didn’t have a conditioner – just the leave-in conditioner and the mask. However, the mask takes over the role of the conditioner and you’ll definitely see a big difference in moisture after using it.
With this leave-in conditioner, you’re supposed to towel dry your hair and apply one to two drops. I didn’t see much difference after using it for a month, so I honestly probably wouldn’t purchase it. I tried using a bit more product, but that just made my hair firm when it dried. The good thing about it is that since you’re only using one or two drops every application, this will last FOREVER.
If you want to try them for yourself, you can pick them up at your nearest drugstore! Klorane is a French brand and, unfortunately, the products aren’t for sale online anywhere. If they are, there’s a HUGE mark-up from independent sellers and you just don’t want to be dealing with that.
ALSO, if you’re looking to save money (and who isn’t these days?), Klorane releases a 400mL size of the shampoos twice a year (May/June and November) for THE SAME PRICE as the 200mL bottles! Keep an eye out at Rexall if you’re in Canada, or your local drug store in the States.
BEFORE KLORANE ENTERED MY LIFE
Obviously, the Klorane products made my hair healthier because it grew A LOT longer. They also brought out my natural blonde highlights – there was no dye used between these photos! But, the damage of my dry hair and split ends was too serious for desert dates to repair. I ended up cutting off six inches a few weeks ago! Stay tuned for a post on what it’s like to cut off six inches of hair. Hint: Life-changing! Have a beautiful day, loves!
